Building and Grounds Committee
This committee is made up of a group of parishioners interested in assisting the junior warden in ongoing maintenance of the church building and grounds. All kinds of skills are needed to provide a “healing touch” to our facilities ranging from big projects requiring a large group of people to small projects such as fixing a single church chair at in your own home.
Building Expansion Committee
This committee examines physical plant issues in order to clarify the future needs of the parish and to develop plans to meet those needs through additional construction.
Other internally-focused ministries related to building and grounds are:
Adopt-A-Bed: In an effort to enhance the appearance of the church grounds the outside plant “beds” have been marked out and are available for “adoption”. If you should want to participate, your responsibility would be to maintain the beds or improve them as you desire for a years period of time. The plot, the description of each bed and the guidelines are posted in the Narthex.
Needlepoint Kneelers: Parishioners have designed and sewn kneelers for around the alter rail. Initiated by The Rev. Timothy W. Dols, rector of St. Peter’s from 1975-2001, the ministry has involved the design and sewing of approximately 90 kneelers for the main church typically dedicated to a feast day or a saint. In addition, kneelers have been created in recognition of the contributions to our parish made by its three original trustees —- Allen Adams, Walter McCarthy, and Edmund D. Campbell —- as well as by The Rev. Dr. Dols. Individuals are needed to design, sew, block and install kneelers. Kneeler work is done all year-round. No experience is needed. We love enlarging group and teaching our craft to newcomers.
