Mission Trips
St. Peter’s organizes mission trips within the United States and, recently, beyond our borders. Trips are planned when there is enough interest in a particular effort, sometimes with other churches or organizations. Among other efforts, we have sent groups to help with the restoration of Katrina-ravaged areas of Mississippi and New Orleans. Expenses are paid by the missioners and out of mission fundraising efforts and the church mission budget.
This week, July 1-July 8, our Dominican Republic Mission Team is helping finish constructing a playground for a school run by our sister Episcopal church, Iglesia Santa Maria Virgen, building an additional project for the school and teaching Vacation Bible School (VBS) to children of the church. This trip will build our ongoing partnership with Iglesia Santa Maria Virgen and support the spiritual and academic growth of their youth.
The missioners are blogging about their trip; you can check out their blog here or visit their Facebook page here. If you’d like to offer them your prayer support, you might like to join them in praying a different verse of Scripture each day. The verses chosen for each day of their trip are available here.
