    Announcements

St. Peter’s to Host Region 3 Lenten Program: March 16

On March 16th St. Peter’s will be hosting the Tuesday evening dinner and discussion for the Regional Lenten program. We need help providing the food for the dinner. Please bring soup, salad and bread for the dinner. We need enough to feed all the attendees. If you have questions please contact the parish office. Thank you.

Region 3 Lenten Program: “Mind, Matter, and Mystery”

This Tuesday, March 9:  “Soul Searching”

All are invited to attend the Region 3 Lenten program this Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal (2217 Columbia Pike, Arlington). The speaker this week is Dr. Elisabeth Kimball from VTS. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and the discussion begins at 7:30 followed by compline.

    The Men’s Breakfast is Moving!

Join the Men of St. Peter’s for an informal pizza night on Thursday, March 18th at 6:00 pm downstairs in Room 107.  Get to know your fellow parishioners, the history of St. Peters, help plan the year’s agenda, and more. Please send your contact information to Blair Fernau at bfernau@fernauleblanc.com or call 301-529-2361 with any questions.

Shine for Jesus at Shrine Mont!

Pre-order special glow-in-the-dark jewelry for night time fun at Shrine Mont. You can order a bracelet or necklace — or both — and be in high glow-in-the dark style for the annual Shrine Mont bonfire. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the South Africa mission. We will begin taking orders next week in the Narthex.

    Region 3 Lenten Program

St. Peter’s will once again be participating in the regional Lenten program with area churches. Please click here for additional information.

    Annual Seder

On April 1 St. Peter’s will hold its annual Seder Supper. This wonderful event for the whole family is a highlight for the church’s year. It brings us all together to commemorate our spiritual unity with another “people of the book”, the Jewish community.  Sign-up sheets are now in the Narthex for the many teams who help put on the Seder Supper. There are places for “worker bees” as well as team leaders.  Contact this year’s coordinators, Bettye Greenwood (bpgreenwood@comcast.net) and Suzanne Brannan (suzbrannan@aol.com) with any questions.

Stations of the Cross for Children

On Good Friday, April 2, at 6:00 p.m., we will have Stations of the Cross for children. We will walk the children on an age-appropriate journey through the last week of Jesus’ life.  Weather permitting, we will begin at the Outdoor Chapel at 6:00 p.m. and take a walk, stopping at various locations along the way. We do so appreciate the effort you make to teach your children about their faith. Good Friday is an important part of that journey. After all, Easter never would have happened without Good Friday. We know it’s difficult to get here at 6:00, but please try to make every effort to bring your children.

    Flower Cross on Easter

This year there will be a wire cross in the Narthex on Easter. Please bring fresh flowers to place in it. Throughout the morning, we will see the wire cross turn into a cross of flowers!

Third Tuesday’s Luncheon:  Noon, March 16

This months luncheon for our 65+ folks will be hosted by Lisa Lettau who will present our program “Gen to Gen Fund”. We hope you can join us for a pleasant afternoon filled with good food, and most importantly, good friends. Please feel free to invite some folks who might like to expand their circle of friends. March’s luncheon will be at noon in the chapel. Please RSVP by Friday, March 12. You can do so by either signing up on the sheet provided in the narthex, or calling or emailing Carol King at 703-532-4299 or clady999@verizon.net.

    Helping Haiti

Haiti has been devastated by one of the worst earthquakes there in modern times. Haiti is on the historic island of Hispaniola, the eastern part of which is the Dominican Republic. We can probably help most by supporting relief efforts by organizations such as Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD). ERD has established a fund for Haiti Relief. You can contribute at its website: https://www.er-d.org/donate-select.php. If you need additional suggestions contact Suzanne Brannan (contact information is in the directory).
