Weddings
We strongly suggest that those wishing to be married contact the clergy at least six months in advance of the desired date. For more information about weddings at St. Peter’s, click here.
Funerals
Please contact the church office at 703-536-6606 for more information about funeral planning.
Holy Baptism
The sacrament of Holy Baptism is offered at various times during the year, except during Lent. The preferred dates for baptism are found on page 312 of the Book of Common Prayer. We always conduct baptisms in the presence of the full congregation, usually on Sundays at 9 or 11 a.m.
Confirmation
The rite of Confirmation is conducted by the Bishop during his annual visit. In the presence of the Bishop, young adults and others new to the faith affirm their baptismal vows, stating those vows for themselves, and become adults in the faith.
Reception
The rite of Reception is also conducted by the Bishop during the Confirmation service. In the presence of the Bishop, persons originally baptized and confirmed in other catholic traditions are received into the Episcopal Church.
Blessing of the Animals
In honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, St. Peter’s holds a “Blessing of the Animals” each fall. Parishioners and friends bring pets to the Outdoor Chapel, where a blessing is read and each animal is individually blessed.
Blessing of the Backpacks
St. Peter’s starts off the school year with a “Blessing of the Backpacks.” All students, school teachers, and Sunday School teachers bring their briefcases and backpacks, and a special blessing is made over the supplies and teachers and students for a wonderful and productive school year.
