St. Peter's provides many opportunities for individuals who wish to learn, grow in faith, serve the needs of others, and build community. Whether you are looking for a way to serve the larger community, sing in the choir, make friends, or study with others, we encourage you to explore the many ways to become involved at Saint Peter’s. Creation Care
We are working to reduce our carbon footprint, care for our grounds, and provide learning opportunities for parishioners to learn how to be good stewards of the earth.

Meals on Wheels
Members of Meals on Wheels delivers meals the first Wednesday of each month at 10:30 AM to the homebound and others in need of meals.

New Hope Housing Lunches
On the first Sunday of the month at 11:30 AM, we assemble sandwiches and make 100 bagged lunches for people at New Hope Housing.

Rebuilding Together
In late April parishioners participate in Rebuilding Together by assisting with repair projects for a needy (and usually elderly) Arlington homeowner recommended by Arlington County social workers.

Refugee Assistance
Members assist Homes Not Borders to resettle Afghan refugees in the DC-Maryland-Virginia region. This group meets about four times a year, setting up an apartment with beds, couches, and kitchen small appliances.

DR Mission
Every other year 20 or so members of Saint Peter’s travel to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (DR) to work with our sister parish Santa Maria Virgen in Montellano, DR.

Sunday School for Children

Nursery (3 mos - 3 yrs)
The nursery is staffed by caring, attentive adults who ensure a nurturing and secure setting for infants and toddlers while parents attend church services and Christian formation at 9:00 AM. Nursery is available 9 AM to 12 Noon on Sundays.

Ages 4 - Grade 1
Children age 4 to 1st grade engage with a play-based curriculum, Godly Play, to grow in faith through stories in Scripture. Children gain religious language and enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play, core principles of this approach to Christian formation.

Grades 2-4
Children in grades 2 through 4 explore key stories in the Bible with creative, hands-on projects that help children enter through story of God and God's people. Mr. Jolly, the principal teacher, has been teaching for more than 30 years with lasting relationships with former students.

Grades 5-6
Preteens connect with God's big story through videos, Bible exploration, and hands-on projects. This class combines humor with teachings from the Bible and helps students build understanding around key Bible themes.

Grades 7-8
Students in grades 7-8 participate in a 2-year confirmation preparation program. They explore beliefs in the Episcopal Church, the Bible, spiritual practices, worship, and ministry. Students are typically confirmed in Grade 8.

Students in grades 9-12 explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus by exploring exploring questions of faith as they relate to everyday life. Classes often use movie clips.

Small Groups for Youth and Parents

Cornerstone Families
Families are a cornerstone of Saint Peter’s. The Cornerstone Families group are households with young children who gather periodically for fellowship, worship, and Sunday morning parent coffees.

Club 4/5
Youth group is a great time for youth to gather and build community over food and fun . Youth in grades 4 and 5 meet monthly on the third Sunday of the month from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at the Church.

Youth Group
St. Peter's 6th through 12th grade youth gather on the second and fourth Sundays each month at 5:30 PM for food, fun, fellowship, and service. See also our Wednesday night Bible study for Grades 9-12.
Pastoral Care

Flower Delivery
Members create bouquets from Sunday's altar flowers and deliver them to the homebound and sick. This is a easy way to offer a pick-me-up for people in need

Meals that Heal
A group of parishioners that prepare and deliver meals to parishioners who are ill or otherwise in need.

Eucharistic Visitors
Brings Eucharist to those at home and in the hospital.
Small Groups for Adults

Bible Study
Meets Wednesday at 10 AM in the library. Come study the books in Hebrew Scripture and Christian Scripture together. The group is currently reading The Path: A Journey through the Bible. Led by the Rev. Lauren Banks.

EARS
Meets online every Thursday at 10:30 AM by Zoom throughout the year to read and discuss short stories. A key question is "Where is God in this?"

Fireside Fellows
Meets monthly at 7 PM on a Thursday evening for fellowship and study. The group chooses a book to read and discuss together.

Foyer Groups
Groups of 10-15 parishioners are formed every 12-18 months and enjoy small-group fellowship together over the course of a year or so. Often Foyer groups meet for dinner, but sometimes they arrange other outings or activities. goes here

Lunch Bunch
Gathers quarterly for lunch and an engaging presentation. Topics vary from history to literature to travel. Come for a tasty meal, conversation, and learning.

Men's Breakfast
Meets every Friday at 9 AM at the Metro 29 Diner on Langston Blvd. Men and others are welcome to join for breakfast and conversation.

Women's Socials
A women's social is scheduled each Fall and Spring. Come for nibbles, beverages, laughter and conversation.

Pedaler's
Pedalers ride more than 120 miles over two days to Shrine Mont every year. This hearty crew trains in the months leading up to the ride.
Worship Ministries

Acolyte Guild
Acolytes are youth, primarily in the 4th grade or above, who are trained to carry important symbols of the Church such as the crosses (the servanthood of Christ), torches (the light of Christ), and Gospel book (the Word of God).

Altar Guild
Altar Guild members prepare the church for worship. Members maintain the altar linens, hangings, and vessels, and prepare the clergy's vestments. Work is done on a flexible timeline with a dedicated and enjoyable group.

Chalicist Guild
Chalicists are essential to our worship team. They help set the altar, collect the alms, and assist the clergy in distributing communion by administering the consecrated wine during Holy Communion. Chalicists receive training and are licensed by the diocese.

Reader Guild
Lay Readers are visible signs of our work together in proclaiming the good news of God to the world. During worship they read the Old Testament and Epistle lessons and lead the reading of the Psalms and the prayers of the people.

A/V Team
The audio/visual team takes on the essential task of live streaming worship and managing the audio. This critical ministry ensures that more pepole can participate in worship, including those at home and those in need of hearing assistance.

Greeter Guild
Saint Peter’s takes the ministry of welcome seriously. Greeters provide a welcome to all and offer information and directions for visitors and new members on Sunday mornings. Recent newcomers are welcome to join this ministry.

Usher Guild
Ushers provide information, help, and service bulletins to those entering the church. They bring forward the elements for the Eucharist, collect the alms, and guide the flow of the congregation to the altar rail during Communion.

Saint Peter's Choir
Saint Peter's adult choir supports congregational singing and offers an anthem on Sundays from September through June. The choir is supported by section leaders. Rehearsal is Wednesday evenings 7:30 to 9:00 pm.

Men's Choir
The Men’s Choir is one part of the robust music ministry at Saint Peter’s. They offer anthems for men’s voices periodically through the year.

St. Cecilia Choir
The Saint Cecelia Choir is a choir for children and youth. The choir Rehearses with Jim Selway Wednesdays from 6:45 to 7:30 pm (September-May) and offer anthems in worship periodically through the year.
Church Governance

Vestry
The vestry is the elected leadership board of the church and is responsible for running the parish's business. Members are elected in November and serve for three-year terms.

Buildings and Grounds Commission
The Buildings and Grounds Commission maintains and improves properties held by Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, including the church campus and the rectory.

Christian Formation Commission
The Christian Formation Commission seeks to help members of Saint Peter’s grow spiritually through Sunday and mid-week offerings for children, youth, and adults.

Communications Commission
The Communications Commission informs others of all that Saint Peter’s has to offer on their spiritual journey, the ministry of St. Peter’s in the larger community, and encourages participation in church activities.

Congregational Life Commission
The Congregational Life Commission aims to nurture meaningful relational connections between existing members of Saint Peter’s, while integrating newcomers into congregational life.

Mission Commission
The Mission Commission serves as the coordinating body for all St. Peter's domestic and international mission work. We seek to respond to neighbors in need and build relationships with God's people throughout the world.

The Stewardship Commission faithfully stewards the valuable human and financial resources that God has entrusted to our care.

Pastoral Care Commission
The purpose of the Pastoral Care Commission is to support parishioners with their pastoral needs, often quietly and behind-the-scenes, in coordination with the clergy.
