What We Believe
We follow Jesus into Loving, Liberating and Life-Giving Relationships
–– An Episcopal Church
The Jesus Movement
St. Peter’s is an Episcopal church committed to Jesus’ way of love. We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.
We believe that Scriptures are the inspired Word of God and require interpretation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The core message of Scripture is to love one another as God loves us.
We have a tradition of inclusion and of striving to tell and exemplify God's love for every human being.
–– We seek the truth by asking questions
Our Core Commitments
At Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, we are devoted to seeking spiritual truth, asking meaningful questions, and growing together as the people of God. Our core values are deeply rooted in the Baptismal Covenant, a foundational expression of Episcopal faith and practice.
The Baptismal Covenant begins with the Apostles’ Creed, affirming the saving work of God in creation, redemption, and renewal. In response to God’s grace, we make five sacred promises—commitments that guide us in living out our faith as followers of Jesus Christ.
Though each person may live out these promises in unique ways, they are united by a shared commitment to walk in the loving, liberating, and life-giving way of Jesus. At Saint Peter’s, this path shapes every aspect of our worship, service, and community life.
–– All are welcome
The Middle Way
At Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, we embrace the Middle Way—an inclusive, thoughtful path that honors both ancient tradition and spiritual inquiry. Rooted in 3rd-century Celtic Christianity and shaped by the 16th-century Reformation, the Episcopal Church stands at the intersection of Catholic and Reformed traditions.
We meet God through beautiful, sacramental liturgy, encounter truth in Holy Scripture, and engage our faith with intellectual honesty—drawing on Scripture, reason, and tradition, the three pillars of Anglican theology. This balance allows us to ask deep questions, hold diverse perspectives, and grow in grace together.
Because of our blended heritage, Saint Peter’s is a spiritual home for people from many religious backgrounds—including Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Mormons, and those exploring faith for the first time. All are welcome here to experience God’s love in a community that values both tradition and transformation.
