Lenten Sermon Series
–– Lent-Easter Sermon Series
(March 5 - April I 20)
A New Heart I Will Give You
Lent is a season of dust, honesty, and realizing we’ve been holding it all together with duct tape and prayer. It’s one of those rare seasons where we get to stop pretending things will suddenly get better. Instead, we hold space for life’s fragility—and let God meet us there, right in the middle of it all.
Through self-examination and reflection this Lent, the cracks in our lives get the spotlight. And through God’s love, grace sneaks in, shaping within us new hearts for life.
Let’s walk through Lent together, one fragile step at a time, opening our hearts to God’s healing grace. Life is messy, but the journey is good and right. It’s a journey worth sharing with one another.
Let’s travel together.
Ash Wednesday - Being human: “From dust you came, and to dust you shall return.” Come as you are this Ash Wednesday. Marked by ashes and beloved by God, we bear our hearts to one another and to God.
Sunday, March 9 - Life is beautiful, anyway: Life is messy. We often feel like we are in the wilderness, but you don’t have to face it alone. Let’s walk through this beautiful life together this Lent.
Sunday, March 16 - Honest complaint: It’s okay to say, “This isn’t how it should be.” Lament is not weakness; it’s a holy and wholehearted act of naming the truth.
Sunday, March 23 - You’re enough: What might happen if we began to listen with the ears of our hearts and see things (and ourselves) through God’s eyes? We have what we need to proclaim God’s reign.
Sunday, March 30 - Never empty-handed: “If you’re going through hell, don’t come out empty-handed.” What wisdom might God be offering you in the midst of life’s struggles? How are our hearts shaped by challenge?
Sunday, April 6 - Small acts, great love: Mary’s act of costly love reminds us: True love always asks something of us, but it multiplies far beyond what we can see.
Sunday, April 13 - Two ways of being: Palm Sunday is a collision of two processions – the grand entrance of Pontious Pilate and the lowly procession of Jesus. These two processions contrast the way of domination and the way of love. We are called to the way of love
Easter Sunday, Apri l20 - Love wins: Christ is risen! Easter is the glorious surprise of our faith—proof that life conquers death and love always wins. God has gifted us with new hearts.
Worship each Sunday at 8 am and 10:15 am at 4250 North Glebe Road in Arlington, VA.
