Last Full Day of Work

Tree trimming, led by Bill Montgomery, takes place on the campus of Colegio Episcopal Niño Jesús

By Avery Keith

As Tuesday July 1st is our team's last full day here working at Colegio Episcopal Niño Jesús, our goal is to finish all of the hard work and dedication we have put into lifting up the school's environment, children, and building in Montellano and the dedicated painting at Santa Maria Virgen in Mosovi.

A group of three went to Santa Maria Virgen to finish up painting, which was started yesterday, Monday, June 30. Not only has painting been taken place at Mosovi but almost everyone has chipped in some effort towards the completion of painting here at Monteallno. With an amazingly dedicated group effort all the painting was completed in a timely manner.

Additionally, a group of kids came on Monday and today from Mosovi to be a part of vacation bible school with the neighborhood students of Colegio Episcopal Niño Jesús. The kids will be completing 2 crafts today, one being a headband which says, "Ama a Dios contodo tu corazòn mente" which translates to "Love God with all your heart and mind". The second craft is a water paint coffee filter flower, where kids have the freedom of creativity to pick the design, the colors, and the final result. Each flower will differ based their own creative ability. The craft team, led by Diane Hazzard, has worked hard to create colorful, enjoyable, and engaging crafts for all ages.

Other groups which have worked on various tasks to create a safe and sustainable environment like fence building, shelf building led by Rusty Hazzard, painting led by Heber Willis, tree trimming led by Bill Montgomery along with daily tasks given to individuals. The fence is to secure a safe dedicated spot for the bus itself and for the safety of the bus concerning the kids. That group has created an amazing improvement with the care and safety of the bus and children in mind.

A few people in the fence building group have also taken part in tree trimming. A highlight of this group has been seeing our youth and adults with a machete. They have opened up the grounds for more light to reach into every aspect of this school. As well as the impact of a fresh coat of paint on most of the first floor of the school.

The painting group has been and will continue today to create precise lines and smooth coats to freshen up the school. Additionally six new bookshelves have been built and are already in use. They are beautiful, well made stained wood pieces crafted with love.

Each and every person of this community has put in a tremendous amount of effort, passion, joy, and sweat into getting our group to the satisfaction of completion we are now.
