Sit. Sip. And see what happens.
After 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship on Sunday mornings, the coffee is hot, the donuts are out, and nobody's in a hurry to leave.
A long tradition
Coffee hour is one of the oldest rhythms of life at Saint Peter's — a simple thing that turns a congregation into a community.
It's been this way for as long as anyone can remember — coffee, donuts, and juice for the kids, every Sunday morning after worship.
Over the years the shape of it has shifted — parishioners used to volunteer each week, then households were assigned one Sunday a year — and today coffee hour is managed by our capable and much-appreciated Porter.
We're always grateful when parishioners jump in to help or bring something homemade to share.
A little extra, a few times a year
Some Sundays coffee hour gets an upgrade. In October after our Pet Blessing service, dogs can enjoy puppyccinos. In November we mark the close of our Stewardship campaign with a donut and coffee truck. During Advent, Moravian cookies appear. On Easter, the table fills with hot cross buns made, baked, and decorated by many hands.
And throughout the year — Welcome Sunday, the Pet Blessing, All Hallows Fest, the Epiphany Event, a Bishop's visit — coffee and donuts show up reliably, holding space for whatever comes next.
Once a month, we host parent coffee hours at 9:00 a.m., gatherings for moms, dads, and caregivers with children of all ages, to pull together for conversation, connection, and a few minutes that belong just to parents and caregivers.
It's a chance to share ideas with other parents and clergy, and to build the kind of friendships that make parish life feel like home.
Look on our parish calendar for the next coffee hour.
