Dominican Republic Mission
St. Peter’s Dominican Republic mission trip is a ministry of service, partnership, and faith. Together with our Episcopal partners, we support local schools, share in community life, and grow as disciples through relationships that span borders.
Partners in Ministry
Saint Peter’s has been in relationship with the Diocese of the Dominican Republic (DR) since 2007 providing assistance to the local Episcopal parishes and school community of Montellano and Mosoví. From a cinderblock foundation, the school is now active and serves pupils from the 1st to 6th grades.
Missioners have worked on the foundation of the school. painted murals, built bookshelves, picnic tables, and benches, worked on the grounds, and assisted in providing Vacation Bible School.
The DR team hopes to return in 2027!
How to join the mission
Every trip we learn more about God, ourselves and our neighbors. Participants must be 14 years old and entering High School. Students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent. There is no maximum age for participation, though the rigors of travel, heat and humidity, physical work, and no air conditioning on the work site should be considered by potential missioners. Those who are unable to join the group “on the ground” can participate by assisting with planning, selecting and preparing supporting crafts, songs and activities to accompany the lessons selected for the summer programs by the Diocese of the Dominican Republic. Raising funds for the construction or other work related expenses, having drives for school supplies, clothing, and sports equipment, and collecting donations for school scholarships are also needed.
