Party in a Box

Take yourself back to that first or second week as a college freshman. It is your first or second week of college as a freshman you don’t know anyone on your hall. You visit your mailbox in between classes and waiting for you is a homemade cake. Baked with love from one of the parishioners at Saint Peter’s. Cue an opportunity to gather your hallmates for a late night snack and a chance to get to know each other.

This is a decades old tradition at Saint Peter’s—”Party in a Box.” It is a reminder that we are thinking of them and that we are praying for them as they enter this new chapter in their lives. It is a way for Saint Peter’s to continue the love and care of each other in times of transitions. Not only do the parishioners who bake cakes enjoy the experience, but the recipients are also very grateful for being thought of by their home parish. We have received many lovely thank you notes over the years.

During COVID—as with many things—there was not much of an opportunity to send cakes. Parishioners Vikkey and Keith Anderson would like to bring “Party in a Box” back this coming fall and they need our help.

We have 12 students in need of a cake this fall. Ideally, we’d love twelve bakers, but if you’re willing and able to bake two, we’d doubly thankful.

You will be equipped with a tried-and-true cake recipe and packing instructions to ensure it arrives safely.

Start dates for college freshman start anywhere from mid-August to mid-September. The Andersons will send information to bakers as information is sent in from parents.
