DR Mission 2025
Over the past nearly 20 years, seven mission groups from Saint Peter’s have traveled to the Dominican Republic to provide assistance to the local Episcopal parishes and school community of Montellano. From a cinderblock foundation, a local school was expanded that now serves students from 1st to 6th grade. Work of mission trips have included basic foundation work, moving concrete block, rebar, and components of mortar, painting, mural painting, construction of book shelves and picnic tables and benches, grounds work including tree planting, as well as providing Vacation Bible School to children in the local parishes.
The work in the parish and school and leading VBS allow our missioners to bring the Saint Peter’s mission statement to life. Opportunities to work and worship with the mission group and community enrich the lives of those participating and provide another opportunity to see God at work in each of us. Daily worship as a group helps to reinforce the ways our Lord served his people and allows the group to reflect on their experience.
The benefit to the local community includes the opportunities for education for a broader group including tuition scholarship funds, supplies for students and church school, as well as employment for those working with our group in construction and in preparing meals we share with the community members. We hope that in planning and working with other St Peter’s parishioners, a deeper knowledge of the needs and strengths of our sister parish will develop, enthusiasm for mission will be encouraged, and our youth will participate in ways that are appropriate to their age and abilities.
We are pleased a mission group is returning to the Dominican Republic in June of 2025. Below you will be able to follow their trip with daily blog posts beginning June 24!

Missioners ride the school bus to the mission site each morning. This is the bus the children ride to school each day too!
